About The Pushpo Foundation

This foundation exists to find and support fierce mothers who are unstoppable in what they will do for their children. Often, these mothers have a vision that only they can see, only they believe in what their children are capable of. In a world where women are demanded to dim their lights, these women shine bright even when they are often seen as unreasonable and ignored.

This foundation exists to support these women and see what unreasonable can do. When reading their stories, you may tend to think there are better ways to do what they want to accomplish, or that what they want is not possible, or maybe they don’t even deserve it. That is why this Foundation exists, to take a chance and trust them with their children even if it doesn’t make any sense to the rest of us.

Why Pushpo Foundation?

Mohammed was inspired to start this foundation as a way to raise money for the powerful women he has in his life. Women he admires for their strength and intelligence, but their spirits are squashed by the luck of where and who they were born to.

Who would these women have been if they were given an opportunity to shine? But that is not the world we live in, and instead, the best way Mohammed has been able to help them is through the education of their children.

He and his family have spent years helping family and friends back home. Over a lot of failed attempts, he has learned that to make the kind of difference that matters, to pull an entire generation out of a bad cycle, a large investment is required to the right people at the right time.

The Pushpo Foundation exists to open such opportunities for women. If multiple people were to target one fierce mother with one unreasonable goal, then real change can occur and the course of an entire generation is reset.

Mohammed Islam
Founder

We affect an entire generation, one mother at a time.

How does it work?

Each mother has a goal, usually education-related, for their child. We raise money for an entire year of school fees. We MoneyGram it to the mother directly every month and expect a receipt from the school or else future funding stops.

Near the end of the year, if the mother still needs help and everything works out fine, we can have another round of raising.

Who are these fierce mothers?

Right now they’re family and friends of the founder. You are welcome to suggest any fierce mothers in Bangladesh who you think would benefit from this program and we will reach out to them and hear what they have to say.

It is difficult to evaluate who is trustworthy and who is not. Often women are put in situations where they have to make decisions that ruin their reputation. We hope to have compassion and wisdom to find the right person.

Are we a Nonprofit?

We are working on it. Right now your charity is not tax-deductible. But you can consider this as Zakat if you are a Muslim.

We only use MoneyGram to abide by the regulations and tax codes of the US and Bangladesh. We are working on making this a more official process.

The founder pays personal income tax for your contributions until the organization is set up.
